The airport of Jaipur is a completely public enterprise managed by the Airports Authority of India. It serves the passengers from the city of Jaipur located at Rajasthan. The IATA code of this airport is JAI and its ICAO code is VIJP. The Jaipur airport is situated at a distance of 13 kilometres from the capital of Rajasthan in the southern suburb region of Sanganer.

This airport is the sole international airport of the state of Rajasthan and it was accorded international status in the year 2005. The civil apron has a capacity of 14 Airbus A320 aircrafts an it’s newly built terminal building can accommodate as many as 1000 passengers at one point of time. The project to upgrade the terminal to accommodate more passengers as well as to extend the runway is in progress. The runway of Jaipur Airport is now extended to 11500 feet that can enable landing of wide bodied aircrafts such as Airbus A380 and Boeing 747.
The renovation and up gradation of the airport is being done with a view to facilitate more air traffic and extend the connectivity even to several long haul destinations. The Jaipur International Airport manages scheduled passenger as well as cargo services by popular air carriers such as Air Asia India, Air Costa, Etihad Airways, IndiGo etc. to numerous destinations across the world.
The cargo terminal of this airport stretches over an area of 700 kilometres and is located adjacent to the old building that was used as a passenger terminal.
